Sergio Perez sees great mutual respect between himself and Max Verstappen. At Sky Sports the Red Bull driver discusses team relations and explains how far the two drivers are allowed to go to challenge each other on the track.

With Red Bull Racing's dominant start to the season, it looks very much like Verstappen and Perez are going to face competition from no one but each other on the track. At the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, this led to both drivers being in touch with the team over the radio about the other's performance. Both were instructed to keep a steady pace as the team felt there was no point in racing against each other.

"They're letting us race in fairness to the team," Perez explained. "There are just signs where, probably in Bahrain there was no reason to keep pushing, in Jeddah there was no reason to keep pushing because we had very similar pace. At the end of the day, as a team we have to think it is better to finish with both cars than missing one. I think we are in a good place."

Perez is confident about the relationship between them

According to Perez, the internal dynamics in the team are also fine. "Everything is magnified by the media when we're not at the race weekends. There is a good atmosphere in the team, we want to beat each other but there is a lot of respect within the team."
