Horner on Verstappen: 'Mentally an amazing ability'

Max Verstappen is probably the most talented driver of the current generation. In addition to his insight, technique and exceptionally phenomenal driving skills, he is just as skilled mentally, according to Christian Horner.

Often, the Dutchman seems immune to pressure and separates himself from anything that could cause distractions. Red Bull Racing's team boss therefore has nothing but good words for him. "If you look back at 2021 at the pressure he had at certain points he drove some incredible races," Horner said in an interview with iNews.

Even in a weekend where the whole country was upside down, Verstappen managed to cross the line first. "I remember watching him getting ready for the race, just a 24-year-old lad, he had this amazing ability to detach himself from what was going on around him and just be in the moment." Horner said.

"He drove an incredible race, won it, but there was no crowd surfing at the end of it. It was just on to the next one." said the team boss about the end of the Zandvoort Grand Prix. We will see if the Limburger can keep his cool again on Sunday at the hot Melbourne circuit.
