The FIA is investigating whether more clarity can be provided on Technical Directives in the future. Earlier, it seemed that a change to a TD had been done 'secretly' by the FIA, when it appeared not to be the case. This should be rectified in future.

The FIA came under scrutiny after it became clear that a Technical Directive had disappeared. The TD39 used to keep teams on their toes whether they were bouncing too much had disappeared from the regulations, without it being announced. Only the teams were reportedly informed about it.

FIA want to open up

Meanwhile, the FIA informed GPblog that this had not been done secretly, but that TDs are never communicated to parties other than the F1 teams, F1, Pirelli and engine manufacturers. With all the uproar, the FIA will look at how this can be remedied in the future.

"We aim to make all TDs (past and present) public very soon. To do so we need to eliminate any confidential info and private info. This is currently under development so you can expect something in the next few months. This will improve the level of access and understanding of technical rules for media and fans in the future," the statement said.
