Fernando Alonso announced his retirement from Formula One on Tuesday, but has yet to give any hints about what the future holds for the Spanish driver.

There is speculation, however, that Fernando Alonso's next job will be in IndyCar and there are reports that he will test an Andretti Autosport Dallara DW12 next month, on a road course.

Alonso upset the Formula One world on Tuesday with his announcement of his decision to retire from the sport - but he's yet to give any indication regarding what the future holds for Alonso.

The Spaniard did contest last year's Indianapolis 500 - however, he had to retire after his Honda engine that was powering his McLaren Andretti Autosport blew.

Racer report that Alonso will take part in multiple road course tests in the next few months - starting as early as September.

Alonso will test an Andretti Dallara DW12, powered by Honda with Barber Motorsports Park being speculated as the possible venue.

Mark Miles, the president and CEO of Hulman & Company which owns IndyCar, earlier this week revealed that he does not expect a decision regarding Alonso's future with the sport, to be decided until "close to the end of the year".
