Christian Horner has revealed that there is no room for Lewis Hamilton at Red Bull Racing. The team boss says he is very happy with his current drivers. Mercedes does not seem to have given Hamilton a winning car for the second year in a row, leading to speculation as to whether the Brit would like to leave the team.

Hamilton has repeatedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation at his team Mercedes. Last year, the seven-time world champion failed to secure a victory for the first time in his Formula 1 career. This year too, the German formation is not yet competitive enough to compete for wins, let alone the championship.

Red Bull, on the other hand, started the season very dominantly. The team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez scored two one-twos in the first two races of the season. Horner indicated to Sky News that he sees no room for Hamilton in his team, as he is happy with his current drivers. "What Lewis has achieved in F1 is second to none but we are very happy with the drivers that we have. They are committed as a pair for not only this season but next season as well. I can't see where we would be able to accommodate Lewis. But I am sure they will sort their issues out and we are not writing them off yet," the team boss said.

Horner thinks the field will get closer together

The gap between Red Bull and the other top teams is wide at the start of the season. The Austrian team easily scored a one-two twice, while Max Verstappen had to start the race 15th in Jeddah. Horner expects this to diminish during the season, though. "The regulations are still relatively young, I am expecting to see a lot of convergence during the year and the grid will tighten up. We need to make hay whilst the sun shines whilst we have a competitive car."
