A green light has been given in the US state of New Jersey to build a new Formula 1 circuit on an old airport. It involves the more than 140-hectare Bader Field.

After a new race was held in the United States last year, the Miami Grand Prix, this year the tally even reaches three races in America. Starting this year, a Grand Prix will also be held in Las Vegas. But the Americans are not stopping there, according to Nj.com a plan for another F1 circuit in America has been approved.

A $2.7 billion development proposal for the Atlantic City airport, aka Bader Field, has been approved. This is not only about building the new circuit, but shops and flats will also be built at the airport, which closed in 2006. "A $2.7 billion development proposal to transform a former Atlantic City airport into a Formula 1 racetrack with condominiums and retail businesses was given a green light Wednesday night by the city council. Construction would take place over six to nine years."
