Sauber are slowly but surely climbing their way back into relevance after the last two years of clearly being the worst team in Formula One, and the team now want to accelerate the growing process by expanding the team by thirty per cent.

Simone Resta, the team's new technical director who came over from Ferrari earlier this year, has these ambitious plans to expand the team. They're currently in ninth, only leading Williams in tenth, but there's a good atmosphere around the team; things are looking up.

"It's different, I hope my experience can help the success of this team," Resta told the Spanish version of Motorsport.

"I haven't been here for long, but I'm trying my absolute best to help this team forwards.

The team is in an upwards spiral, and Resta wants to keep this going as long as possible.

"We want to expand our team even further.

"At the moment, we have more than 400 people in our staff and we want to expand that by another thirty per cent.

"We need more manpower to get further.

Thirty per cent on top of 400 people means that the team will hire an extra 120 people, according to our math. That's ambitious, to say the least.

"We're not on the level where we want to be yet, so we have to make some big changes.

"It's unclear where exactly we have to implement these changes, but it is clear that something has to change in order for us to progress."

It's good to hear that a relatively small team like Sauber are planning to be more competitive. Ambition is key for having an enjoyable F1.
