Pierre Gasly thinks he has nothing left to prove in Formula One as he looks for a Red Bull seat for 2019.

Formula One, as we all know, can be just as much down to luck and politics, than it is down to the skill of the driver.

Gasly has found out the harsh realities of the sport when he won the F2 title but still did not get his shot at the big time.

Speaking to Crash.net, Gasly reflected on one of the most difficult times in the Frenchman's career.

"That was really after my Formula 2 title. Then you have won everything that can be won and you do not get that chance yet," Gasly explained.

"What else do I have to do to prove myself? I learned a lot from this, because now I do not need that recognition from other people," Gasly said about his Super Formula spell in Japan.

The Toro Rosso man eventually got his chance in motorsport's biggest sport, with Toro Rosso.

"That was great, of course, but I've learned to pay attention only to myself," Gasly said.

"I just have to perform and then I know that the chances will come. I should not wory about the missed opportunities."

Gasly is now linked with his senior side, Red Bull, as they look for alternatives for departing Daniel Ricciardo.
