Red Bull team boss Christian Horner acknowledges that Red Bull made a mistake by giving Pierre Gasly and then Alexander Albon the Red Bull seat too soon. Speaking to Autosport.com the Briton says Sergio Perez proved that.

Gasly and Albon were driven to pieces by their teammate: Max Verstappen. Sergio Perez also struggled with Verstappen's speed. Unlike his two predecessors, the Mexican behind did manage to reach the podium with regularity. "It's tough for him having Max Verstappen as your team mate, I mean, he is setting the barometer in Formula 1 currently."

Unfair for Gasly and Albon

Horner acknowledges that Red Bull made mistakes in appointing juniors Pierre Gasly and alexander Albon. "The key thing in the appointment of Checo was his experience and it had been unfair, perhaps, on the previous two guys to bring them in so soon" Perez can handle the pressure better. "Checo is mature enough to be able to deal with that and handle that. And I think that he's looking to continue to evolve and improve his own performance, so it's good to see him looking competitive."
