Steiner showing keen interest in the driver market

Haas are yet to confirm anything about their 2019 driver line-up, but team boss Guenther Steiner has confirmed he is paying close attention to the driver market. Kevin Magnussen is expected to be safe at the American team while Romain Grosjean's seat looks to be in doubt.

Magnussen sits in eighth in the drivers' championship. On the other side of the garage, it's a different story. With Grosjean pointless for almost half the season, Steiner maybe assessing his options to replace the Frenchman.

“I wouldn’t say we are shopping around. You know, a lot of people are shopping with us, put it this way. There are people asking for obvious reasons, and they want to see what we are doing," Steiner said in an interview on Racer.

“It’s all ‘potentially’, and I don’t know where they are. For sure, go round and say ‘I’m potentially on the market’, but it doesn’t make it a fact. At the moment it’s more gossip because nobody has pulled the trigger yet on anybody.

“Maybe we will have decided already without knowing what they are doing; I’m just saying them deciding will trigger the market because then we have the facts of what somebody is doing."

It does sound like something is happening at Haas. If it wasn't for Grosjean's mistakes, they'd have racked up a lot more points.
