During the last race weekend, comparisons were made between the AMR23 and the very similar looking RB18. These rumours are reinforced by the fact that Dan Fallows, former Red Bull Racing designer, has been Aston Martin's new technical director since April 2022. However, Red Bull does not want to make a scene about this, as Helmut Marko told Sky.

The 79-year-old Austrian has denied all rumours of a possible 'Copygate'. "It's not just Fallows who has switched to Aston Martin, but some other employees as well. Obviously, they have a good memory." the last sentence does, however, create some speculation. What Marko does think is that there should be no accusation towards Aston Martin or Red Bull's former employees: "No, not at all. And this is not an accusation either."

Perez joke

Sergio Perez joked during the post-race press conference, "It's nice to see three Red Bull cars on the podium" making the link between the two similar cars. Marko also joked again about a possible copy: "Today we had three Red Bulls on the podium. One just had a different engine."

However, the Red Bull consultant does nuance the jokes: "These are just humorous remarks. If you look at the field, the Aston Martin is the car that is most similar to the Red Bull."
