Ralf Schumacher is not entirely satisfied with Guenther Steiner's performance in the fifth season of Drive to Survive. The uncle of Mick Schumacher was well into it and stumbled over one scene of the Haas team boss in particular.

Steiner's approach

It is no secret that Ralf Schumacher is not a big fan of Steiner. The former F1 driver was already very critical of the team when Mick was still driving there and that attitude has not changed. Much was said and written about the episode with Haas in Germany and especially about the amount of criticism Schumacher received in that episode. Ralf therefore started watching it deliberately, hoping to form his own opinion.

Speaking to Formel1.de the brother of Michael Schumacher revealed that he has no problem with Steiner's harsh attitude. That Mick was heavily criticised at the beginning of the season after crashes in Jeddah and Monaco is justified and part of the sport, according to his uncle. Ralf is more concerned with when and if criticism can be heard.

The biggest stumbling block for Ralf is a scene in which Steiner is interviewed by Sky Sports Germany. In it, Steiner is asked if a talent like Mick should not be given more confidence to perform well. The team boss is not taken with that question and as he walks away, you can hear him say that Mick should leave if he does not like it at the team.

Unfair question for Schumacher

For Steiner to bring Mick into this situation when it is a journalist asking the question is unfair, according to Ralf Schumacher. Still, Steiner's attitude is somewhat understandable. After all, Schumacher works for Sky Sports Germany, so a critical question from that corner would quickly seem to come from the Schumacher camp.

Meanwhile, calm has returned at Haas, where Nico Hulkenberg has now taken Schumacher's spot. Schumacher himself has found another spot at Mercedes, where he gets to take a closer look at a top team as a reserve driver.
