Mick Schumacher was present only as a reserve driver with the Mercedes team last weekend. After two years of having a regular place in the Formula 1 fieldat Haas, Mick was now a spectator during the race. It takes some getting used to, but he feels comfortable with the German racing stable.

Mick was still occasionally on-screen during the Formula 1 broadcast. This was then not in the car as in the past two years, but on the stool next to Toto Wolff, Mercedes' team boss. Here, the former driver watched the race with his team boss. Despite this not being what Mick wants, he does try to get motivation from it he tells the F1 Nation podcast.

“I’ve been sat on this stool there with my hands and my arms and it felt like the day was never going to end because I just wanted to jump into a car but it’s another factor which proves to me and myself that I really really want this,” says the German.

Mick on his future

Obviously, Schumacher wants to make a comeback to being a regular driver on the grid. But about his future, he remains cautious for now. " I don't know what the future brings",  admits Schumacher. "I feel very much at home at Mercedes, so therefore I have to see what options I have for the upcoming season. A lot of that will be shown as the year goes by."
