Christian Horner has dramatically lowered expectations of Red Bull next year. 2019 will mark the first year of the Honda Red Bull relationship which has been described as an "interim year."

The new relationship was announced earlier this season as Red Bull bring an end to their deal with Renault. Horner spoke to La Gazzetta and brought down all expectations.

"I certainly expect that the first year will be an interim year for us. Compared to the competition, the necessary steps still have to be taken at Honda," Red Bull's team principal said.

Horner then goes onto admit he feels his team should be in a better place at the summer break.

“We wanted more. We could have won in Bahrain and had a double podium in China and Monaco. But we are the only ones who can make life difficult for Ferrari and Mercedes,” added Horner.
