With Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen, Haas not only have an interesting driver line-up, but also, according to Jolyon Palmer, the strongest line-up the Formula 1 team has ever had. So states the former F1 driver to Sky Sports.

'Magnussen and Hulkenberg strongest Haas line-up ever'

The former Renault driver cannot remember a line-up at Haas as strong as the current one. "It is the best ever driver line-up for Haas," he observes. Palmer sees that Magnussen has been an integral part since he joined the American racing stable as a regular driver in 2017, but also thinks the team did well to bring in Hulkenberg.

"I think Hulkenberg is largely considered to be the more established option," continued the 32-year-old Briton. "It does sound like Nico is hungry for it, he’s settled in really well. That was I guess the one slight question mark about bringing him back, he thought he was out of it."

The combination of two experienced drivers like Magnussen and Hulkenberg should work well, according to the analyst. "I think that they’re both great guys and fast drivers fundamentally, so they should work together well," he said. "And Haas, the car looks decent, and the fact that Hulkenberg is settling in well is very encouraging. It sounds like the vibe check is positive," Palmer concluded.

So far, the most points in a single season at Haas have been accumulated by Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean. In the 2018 F1 season, the driver duo accounted for a total of 93 points, by far the highest number of points since the team debuted on the F1 grid in 2016.

In second place is the 2017 season, in which Magnussen and Grosjean also made up the line-up. That year, they scored a total of 47 points. Third is the 2022 season, in which Magnussen, along with Mick Schumacher, accounted for 37 points.
