Carlos Sainz has finished fastest in the morning session of Day two in Bahrain pre-season testing. The Ferrari driver's best lap was around six-tenths faster than his best time in FP3 at the same circuit last year, though still around two seconds slower than his qualifying result. Logan Sargeant finished second fastest and went purple in the second sector.

Mercedes twitchy rear

The Mercedes rear looked really nervous during this morning's running. Lewis Hamilton was out on the circuit and recorded over 60 laps with various set-up changes going on. Hamilton set the eighth fastest time of the session and Toto Wolff confirmed to Sky Sports that Mercedes didn't get the balance set-up right for the current hot conditions. Midway through the session, a part came off Hamilton's car. The Mercedes mechanics looked at the floor and quickly made the repair.

McLaren and Lando Norris spent some time in the garage but they still managed to record at least 60 laps. Zhou and Ocon were the two drivers with the lowest lap count.

Logan Sargeant on form

Rookie Logan Sargeant impressed with some strong lap times on the soft tyres. The American driver was given a bit of free reign, likely after completing Williams' planned test schedule. With Sargeant taking part in his first Grand Prix next weekend, it's likely Williams want to give him some confidence and therefore opted for a glory run. Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso found themselves back towards the top of the timesheet again.

The final 15 minutes of the session featured the yellow flag and virtual safety car tests again. This rounded out the session, though didn't cause too many problems as most drivers were on race runs at this time. That was until a red flag test was completed with 10 minutes remaining.
