Carlos Sainz Sr. has confirmed he will not need surgery. The father of the Formula 1 driver of the same name experienced a heavy crash during the Dakar Rally in January in which he broke two vertebrae. Retrieved from Twitter the driver says he will not need surgery thanks to special treatment.

During the ninth stage of the Dakar Rally, the Spanish driver crashed. His Audi rolled off a dune and landed on his nose. Sainz was taken away by medical helicopter due to chest pain, but decided to return halfway through the flight to continue racing. Sainz was still taken to hospital for checks, where it was found that he had fractured two vertebrae.

INDIBA speeds up recovery
