Bob Fernley: No "animosity" aimed at Perez for administration troubles

Bob Fernley has confirmed there is no "animosity" pointed towards Sergio Perez after he helped put Force India into administration. The team owe Perez £3 million which has caused the driver to take action. On Thursday he described the teams financial status as "critical".

The team will continue to run as normal this weekend, allowing Fernley to remain in his role. The summer break which follows Sunday's Grand Prix will buy the team some time. Fernley told motorsport that he has no problems with Perez.

"There can't be any animosity. Whatever happens, like everyone else Checo [Perez] is entitled to be paid.

"Unfortunately we were not in a position to be able to pay him, and patience runs out for everyone. So, that's a process. I don’t think we in any way look negatively at him. The responsibility for payment is on the team, not on Checo."

With Esteban Ocon looking likely to leave the team for Renault, the move Perez has made could help him become number 1 driver in the team should the right buyer come along.
