Formula 1 has had a modified three-lap qualifying system since the 2006 season. First, after Q1, the five drivers with the slowest times drop out. After 15 drivers remain, the same rules apply in Q2. Finally, the last ten drivers may collectively decide what the top ten on the grid will look like. But since then, which drivers most often did not make it past Q1?

Among the first seven drivers are two drivers who can still be found in Formula 1. Kevin Magnussen, for example, failed to survive the first lap 55 times, allowing him to prepare for the race early. Also on that number are Adrian Sutil, Heikki Kovalainen, and Nicholas Latifi.

Lance Stroll occupies second place. At Aston Martin, the Canadian often struggled in qualifying and failed to advance beyond Q1 no less than 60 times. In doing so, the driver was narrowly ahead of Timo Glock, who has only one less failure behind his name.

Ericsson is in first place

However, both men failed to reach Marcus Ericsson's number. He failed to get to Q2 71 times. However, he may be relieved in the new season by Stroll, who is gearing up for another season at Aston Martin.
