First sounds of Red Bull Powertrains engine heard at AlphaTauri

Alpha Tauri have released footage - and more importantly, sounds - of a test of the new engine on YouTube. The video shows the 2023 engine in action and its roar.

The engine was made in partnership between Honda and Red Bull Powertrains. This makes Alpha Tauri the only other team besides Red Bull Racing to use this engine. The engine is the first part of the new AT04 we get to see.

2022 was a mediocre season for AlphaTauri

The team's main focus next season will be to improve on 2022. Alpha Tauri finished in a paltry ninth place among constructors, with only Williams behind. With Nyck de Vries replacing Pierre Gasly, who left for Alpine, and with the return of Yuki Tsunoda, the team will compete with the rest of the midfield.

Alpha Tauri will unveil the new car for the first time on 11 February in New York. The car will first come into action at the same time as the other teams during the test days in Bahrain from 23 to 25 February. Before then, the drivers will already be in action: Tsunoda and De Vries will step into last year's car next weekend for a Pirelli tyre test.
