Last weekend, the Race of Champions presented itself as a real top notch event, although there were moments when commerce prevailed. For instance, the drivers drove their laps with a guest next to them in the car: people who had paid money to do so or VIPs. Mick Schumacher also had guests in the car.

According to F1 Insider Schumacher briefly drove around with his mother Corinna, Michael Schumacher 's wife of course. It was the first time mother and son were in a race car together. "I first took her out onto the ice in the Porsche, then we also drove the rallycross car," said the former Haas driver. "I think she really enjoyed it. It was a great day, she could see what I do to earn my money."

Tribute to Michael

Corinna Schumacher is known for avoiding any publicity. For instance, she never gives an update on the condition of Michael, who has disappeared completely into anonymity since a terrible skiing accident. During the Race of Champions, there was a tribute to probably the best F1 driver ever. Participants posed behind a banner that read: 'Keep fighting Michael - we miss you'.

Mick Schumacher made it to the final of the event in Sweden. He lost in the final battle to Mattias Ekström. The Swede defeated Michael at the 2009 ROC in Beijing. Ekström posted a message on social media later that day: 'Like father, like son'.
