Frederic Vasseur is eagerly taking up the challenge at Ferrari. The French team boss tells Motorsport.com that he has a good relationship with Charles Leclerc and is therefore looking forward to working with him again. According to Vasseur, however, it had not been a reason to start working with the team.

Since Leclerc and Vasseur have an excellent relationship with each other, rumours arose that it might have been one of the reasons the team boss made the move to Ferrari. "I honestly don't know anything about that and I don't think it helped," Vasseur stated during Ferrari's first press event. "The role of a team boss is not to put Charles in the best shape, but to help the team move forward."

Besides his good relationship with Leclerc, he has become friends with more people in Formula 1 in recent years. For example, he gets on very well with Toto Wolff, who has held the role of team boss at Mercedes for many years. Vasseur does not think the bond will change with his move to Ferrari.

"I am sure I will maintain a good relationship with Toto. I think we are intelligent enough to fight on the track, with the FIA and with the stewards and still keep a good relationship. I think it is also the best way for Formula 1 as a whole and moving forward. I will not compromise on that."

Clear task for Vasseur

Vasseur stressed to the media present that it is clear to him what he has been appointed to do. The French team boss has to make sure that the staff will work together in the best possible way so that the team can get the most out of the car.
