Nico Hulkenberg feels he has made great strides in his life over recent years. He has now married and become a father, therefore gaining a completely different life. The driver expects to benefit from this this calendar year, he told Autosport.com.

His role as Aston Martin's reserve driver allowed him to rest for a few years from the hustle and bustle surrounding Formula 1, while remaining involved in the motorsport class. It gave Hulkenberg plenty of space to reflect on his life.

"What I said earlier about this time away, when you reflect on things, when you see things from a different angle, there are certainly some things that I will change how I will do them in the future," Hulkenberg stressed in the interview. "But there are very personal things that I don't want to go into detail."

Hulkenberg happy with opportunity

Hulkenberg has the challenging task of taking Haas F1 forward next season. Whereas Mick Schumacher failed to regularly finish in the points with the American formation over the past two years, the experienced German must prove otherwise.

For the driver, the move to Haas is proof that he is still loved in Formula 1. Hulkenberg therefore feels he has the qualities to be successful and form a strong team with teammate Kevin Magnussen.
