According to reports, Canadian businessman Lawrence Stroll is now the owner of Force India as they file for bankruptcy.

Lawrence Stroll, who is father of Williams driver Lance Stroll, has bought - according to Auto Motor und Sport.

Lance, who is just 19 years of age, looks set to move from Williams to Force India in time for the 2019 season as well.

"There is mounting speculation that Force India will file for bankruptcy," Auto Motor und Sport report.

Auto Bild, another German publication have published the same story but are not quite sure how much of the team Stroll now owns.

"It is unclear whether he has secured a majority stake or if the team now belongs completely to him," said Bild correspondent Ralf Bach.

There has been other interest in the Silverstone-based team too, with sponsor BWT interested and British energy drink Rich Energy considering their options.

Team boss Vijay Mallya has claims this is all just speculation currently.

"People have been writing about the ownership of my team for years," Mallya said.

"You will not see anybody in Force India walking around with a 'For Sale' sign. All I can say is if there is a credible offer with cash on the table, I will be the first to discuss it with my shareholders.

"Until then, speculation remains speculation."
