Flavio Briatore thinks that Fernando Alonso who has made the switch from Alpine to Aston Martin can still have fantastic years in Formula 1. In addition, the Italian is impressed by how physically fit the two-time world champion is.

Briatore was the team boss of Renault where Alonso took the title in 2005 and 2006. In 2009, however, the Italian had to leave Formula 1 because of his involvement in the crashgate scandal during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. These days, the former restaurant manager and insurance salesman occasionally attends Grand Prix weekends.

Rottweiler

"Fernando is a rottweiler," Briatore revealed to DAZN. "Aston Martin is getting a rottweiler and I am sure Fernando can show another fantastic season or two." In addition, the 72-year-old said he is very pleased with the popularity of the king class: "Formula 1 is great. They are very strong in the media and the fans make sure all Grands Prix are sold out. It is a success. The former team boss returned to the sport two years ago and sees that the king class now has huge appeal, as the United States is now proving to be an extremely important market. "Before, it was very difficult to get in there," he concludes.
