Jack Doohan still belonged to the Red Bull Junior Team until the end of 2021, but in 2022 he switched to Alpine's training programme. The Formula 2 driver does not regret that at all, and he even calls it "the best move of his career so far".

The son of motorsport legend Mick Doohan became part of the Red Bull Junior Team in 2017. Successes in British Formula 4 and Formula 3, among others, followed, but upon his move to F2, he decided to continue with Alpine. He therefore switched to the Alpine Academy at the end of 2021.

Doohan has no regrets about switch from Red Bull to Alpine

A golden move, judges the 19-year-old Australian in conversation with Motorsport.com. At Alpine in 2022, he immediately got the chance to be in action twice during free practice in Formula 1, and he also got to take to the track during Pirelli's tyre test. That way, he gained a lot of important experience and he is very grateful to the French team for that.

Doohan thinks that with Red Bull's training programme, he probably would not have progressed as quickly as he did now, and in hindsight is glad he took this step. " I wouldn't have even come close to two free practice sessions or at all to driving an F1 car if I had stayed where I was," says the Virtuosi driver. "I am very happy with my decision and think it is the best move of my career so far."

Doohan impressed in recent years, finishing second in the 2021 F3 championship, before finishing sixth in his debut year in F2. In 2023, he will race again in F2 for Virtuosi Racing. We may also see the Australian in action during some free practice sessions in F1.
