At the age of 41, Fernando Alonso seems far from finished with Formula 1. Next season, he will make the switch from Alpine to Aston Martin. Romain Grosjean hopes the British team can give him a good car, as the Spaniard is still performing at the highest level.

It came as a big surprise when Alonso suddenly announced that he is leaving for Aston Martin in 2023. He replaces the now-retired Sebastian Vettel there. Alonso is not moving up, as Alpine finished fourth in the constructors' championship last season, while Aston Martin had to make do with seventh position.

Nevertheless, the Spanish driver is very confident about his new team. Lawrence Stroll, the owner of Aston Martin, has big ambitions. The team is currently building a new factory. Grosjean hopes Alonso can perform well at his new team.

'Alonso drives like he's 22 years old'

"I love his attitude, on-track dedication and his engagement to drive. He's 40 plus years old, but he drives like he's 22. Every session, every lap, every practice he's full on. He's going for it, and I'm excited to see him at Aston Martin and what the challenge could be", the former Formula One driver says on YouTube.

"Is it going to be a success or is it going to be a failure? We've seen Alonso changing a lot of teams through the years. Not always for the best, but I'm truly hoping he's going to get a good car and give us some of the performances that he's able to do", Grosjean ends.
