Every year, the Formula 1's official website asks team bosses to make a top 10 of the best drivers last season. This time too, they were asked this question, on condition that their list remains otherwise secret. The final result is partly surprising and partly not.

To chose the best driver according to the team bosses, the Formula 1 site uses a points system. The number 1 on each list gets 25 points and the number 10 gets 1 point. Exactly like the points system in the championship. So a maximum of 250 points can be earned by the winner.

No surprise

It is probably no surprise that Max Verstappen won this election. In total, he got 207 points. So while almost the entire F1 paddock thinks the Dutchman was the star of the season, that opinion is not shared by all team bosses. In fact, Verstappen came 43 points short of a unanimous win. Due to anonymity, it is not possible to find out who did not vote for Verstappen. Possibly the Song Contest syndrome played a role here: choosing friends or one's own drivers.

Behind Verstappen, Charles Leclerc finished well behind in second place. George Russell came third.

The top 10

1. Max Verstappen (207)

2. Charles Leclerc (144)

3. George Russell (127)

4. Lewis Hamilton (100)

5. Sergio Perez (91)

6. Lando Norris (81)

7. Carlos Sainz (68)

8. Fernando Alonso (67)

9. Valtteri Bottas (29)

10. Sebastian Vettel (24)
