Honda hoping to upgrade engine again before season end

Honda have announced they are hoping to bring another upgrade to their V6 before the end of the season. It's hoped that this will better prepare the engine before being placed in the Red Bull next season.

They rolled out their first upgrade at the Canadian Grand Prix earlier in June. Honda are still lagging far being Mercedes and Ferrari, estimated to be a second a lap at Silverstone. Honda are desperate to close this gap before November.

"I cannot tell you exactly yes or not, but we are still working on the ICE," Honda's F1 technical director Toyoharu Tanabe told motorsport.

"I hope we will have some update and improvement within this season. [On Gasly's qualifying data] we saw the performance on the straights. Of course, we have [corners] here, where you go full throttle, especially in qualifying. That gave us a hard time. It meant the PU performance difference here was more than at other circuits."

In general, it'll be great news is Honda can improve their engine for Formula 1. Having three teams at the top of the tree will make it all the more exciting. Unfortunately, we think it's a long way off.
