OVERVIEW: The starting times for the German Grand Prix

16-07-2018 13:56

Here we go again! Round 11! Fully refreshed after a long tripleheader! We return to Germany for the first time since 2016. How do you see this race going? Let us know in the comments!

The weekend starts with the two Free Practice sessions on Friday at the Hockenheimring. The first one, FP1, starts in the morning as the action gets underway at ten.

Between FP1 and FP2, the executives' press conference will take place. The line-up for this hasn't been announced yet.

FP2 then starts at two o'clock BST. For an hour and a half, the drivers should be doing better times. FP2 is usually a good indicator of where the teams are in terms of race pace, as most teams attempt some long runs in this sessions.

Saturday is not only for qualifying, but also for the third practice, which will take place in the morning again. Usually, the pace does improve, but teams tend to take it easier, as potential crashes in FP3 could mean that your car can't be fixed in time for qualifying which we have seen examples of already this season.

The qualifying itself starts at two o'clock BST on Saturday. It should be another exciting battle between Ferrari and Mercedes, similar to what we saw in Silverstone 2 weeks ago.

Sunday's race will start at ten past two BST as usual. It's the first race in Germany since 2016 as last years visit was cancelled.
