Esteban Ocon managed to improve his results considerably this season compared to last calendar year. Whereas the Frenchman was still good for 74 points in 2021, he finished this race year with 18 points more. It even ensured that he finished above his teammate Fernando Alonso in the drivers' championship.

Speaking to The Race the driver stressed that his achievements did not come out of the blue. Ocon worked hard behind the scenes with his team on ways to get better and decided to make several adjustments within the formation.

The driver brought in some strengths, allowing him to focus more on racing. "Tom Clark [physiotherapist] has joined the team last year. Michel Berthelemot [PR] is also here helping me with a lot of different stuff. So that overall makes it a very strong team," Ocon explained.

"It has helped me on a lot of different details, just keep energy throughout the year. But also my training centre, which my physio communicates within France, has moved from the Pyrenees to Annecy, and I live quite close to that place. So I can basically [do] training camp between races."

Ocon hopes for podium finish

However, Ocon revealed earlier that he has not had a perfect season yet. The French driver still wants to finish on the podium once with his team and hopes the team can make a big leap towards that goal next year.
