CEO Porsche: 'We have been honest in our talks with Red Bull'

Last year, it seemed that Red Bull would strike a deal with Porsche for engine production from 2026, but this unexpectedly fell through. Fritz Enzinger, outgoing vice president of the Porsche motorsport branch, and Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume talk about this at Speedweek.com.

After eleven years, Enzinger is leaving the German carmaker. He held an important position in the talks with Red Bull this year and personally liaised with Dietrich Mateschitz before the latter passed away in October. Enzinger indicates that if the deal with Red Bull had not fallen through, he probably would not have left the Volkswagen Group.

On the debacle with Red Bull, CEO Oliver Blume also says: "The talks went very well, cooperation was agreed on with a handshake, but not finalised at the last minute. We wanted to be equal partner. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether they want to sell shares. We think that's okay. We behaved honestly. We will see what happens in the future and what is attractive. We have a huge programme (in motorsport) ahead of us that we are looking forward to."

It seems Porsche is definitely no longer in the race for a partnership with Red Bull (but never say never). Alfa Romeo and Ford, on the other hand, are. They are reportedly Red Bull already in talks with the latter.
