Paddy Lowe is hopeful that his Williams team can turn around their fortunes for the rest of the season and avoid finishing bottom of the Constructors' Championship.

Williams Chief Technical Officer, Paddy Lowe believes his team have what it takes to turn their fortunes around for the rest of the season and climb up the standings.

Lowe joined Williams in March last year from Mercedes and very much was expected of him, but his debut car that was built at Williams has proven to been poor.

His side only have four points this season from their two drivers, Sergey Sirotkin and Lance Stroll.

There has been inevitable rumours about Lowe's future at Williams, but the 56-year-old is hopeful that his side can improve this season.

"I have some really great people around me," Lowe said to GrandPrix.com

"There are some reinforcements needed, but we have the core of a really great team, so I think we're in a position to start turning in the right direction."

The main problem is the car, which they need to address soon, before it's too late in the season.

Team Chief, Claire Williams desribed it as "evil" to drive.

"Many of the problems with this year's car are simply exaggerations of those we had last year," Lowe added.

"The degree of instability of our car has been very extreme this year. Last year's car was not great in terms of stability, but that feature has become even worse on this year's car.

"You have to go right into the heart of what you are doing and some core science of how you are generating performance."
