It is an open secret that Fred Vasseur is on pole to become team boss of Ferrari next year. The Frenchman is currently in the same position at Alfa Romeo. At that team, he previously had Charles Leclerc under his belt. The Monegasque is currently Ferrari 's front-runner.

Vasseur and Leclerc got along well at Alfa Romeo. At the press conference before the start of the FIA gala in Bologna, the F1 championship runner-up was asked whether Vasseur should be Mattia Binotto's successor: "I can only comment on my experience with Fred [Vasseur], which have been good. I worked with Fred since the junior categories, where he has believed in me. We always had a good relationship. But apart from that, this should not influence any decisions."

Very honest

Leclerc characterises Vasseur as very honest and straightforward. "Whether it will be him or not, I don‘t know. We will see in the next few months", is the short comment from the Monegasque.

However, the media in the room are not giving up. After all, who would Leclerc like to see as the new boss, and does he have a shortlist? The driver again keeps a low profile. “No and I won’t comment on that, and obviously no it’s not my decision, John and Bennedetto are going to take the decision and we are just trying to focus much on the simulator and with the team to try and have the best race car for next year, but the decision will be done by them.”
