Red Bull's Max Verstappen believes his team's title chances have taken a turn for the worse.

Verstappen has said that Red Bull's chances of the constructors' championship against the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes is quite slim now after the top two continue to dominate.

The Dutchman only won as recently as Austria, but admits in the most recent races, Renault's power has been extremely lacking.

"I think we have the strongest chassis of anyone," Verstappen claimed to De Telegraaf newspaper.

"But now we have too little speed on the straight. It's really a problem.

"Since Ferrari and Mercedes did their engine upgrade, the deficit has really increased."

Verstappen said that the prime example of that was Silverstone at the weekend, where he thinks his team was "slow".

The 20-year-old is hoping that the same problem doesn't occur in Germany next weekend.

"It's eight corners and many straights in between them," Verstappen said about Hockenheim.

"But you never know, we could achieve good results thanks to incidents and safety cars.

"But it won't be easy.

"I think after that we can really compete in Hungary, Singapore and Mexico.

"I think on average we lose six, seven tenths because of the engine, but there are perhaps four tenths we can compensate for elsewhere.

"So yes, I see opportunities there."
