Formula 1 has decided to relax coronavirus measures at the World Motor Sport Council meeting. Last season, more and more measures were lifted, but now even a vaccination is no longer required to enter the F1 paddock.

Since early 2020, the coronavirus took control of the world. Measures followed everywhere, including in the F1 paddock. The 2020 and 2021 F1 calendars were adjusted as some countries introduced entry bans. All drivers, team members and journalists were also frequently tested during a race weekend. Last year, everything was already slowly returning to normal. With the virus slowing down, most countries are getting easier. Reason enough for the king class to also relax its measures.

Healthy

While last year a vaccination was still mandatory to gain entry to the F1 paddock, from next season it will no longer be required. Last season, the mouth caps already disappeared. In a meeting of the WMSC, it was decided that everyone can re-enter, provided they are healthy. People with symptoms or an established infection are not welcome. "The FIA continues to update the COVID-19 protocol to reflect changes in the status of the global pandemic," reported the WMSC, which is therefore scrapping measures. "Participants who are not fit, due to symptoms or infection, will not be allowed to enter crowded areas. A vaccination will no longer be required. The FIA is also discontinuing testing facilities, but will inform interested parties of local testing options."
