It is currently buzzing with rumours when it comes to the role of team boss at Ferrari. Now it is the Italian newspaper La Stampa that manages to report that even Ross Brawn is said to be on the shortlist.

It seems a matter of time before the announcement follows that Mattia Binotto is leaving Ferrari. Although the team denied prior to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that the team boss would be leaving the team early, several (Italian) media outlets know that Binotto will be leaving.

Brawn back to Ferrari?

Frederic Vasseur was the first name linked to the role as Ferrari team boss, but since then the names of Franz Tost and Andreas Seidl have also come up. A new name can now be added to that, as Italian La Stampa reports that Ross Brawn is on the shortlist to be appointed team boss.

Brawn worked as technical director for Ferrari during Michael Schumacher's years of success. Under the leadership of team boss Jean Todt, the Italian racing stable enjoyed its heyday in Formula 1. After Ferrari, Brawn worked as team boss of BrawnGP and Mercedes before joining F1. There, he has been the man setting the lines on sporting matters since 2017 and was behind the new technical regulations for 2022.

A move from F1's technical leadership to a role as team boss at Ferrari would be piquant, especially considering that Brawn was not the head of an F1 team after his adventure at Mercedes. According to La Stampa, Brawn would not be the favourite for the role as team boss either. Indeed, Vasseur would still be in pole position to be announced as the Scuderia's new top man.
