Sebastian Vettel has topped the times at Silverstone on Friday as he set the pace during the second practice session, and the German afterwards said that his objective at Silverstone is to break the Mercedes winning-streak at the track.

Vettel only managed to win once at Silverstone throughout his F1-career, all the way back in 2009. For the past five years, Mercedes have always come out victorious at the track, with Lewis Hamilton even winning the past four editions in a row.

Vettel, who kept the Silver Arrows behind him by multiple tenths on Friday, is pleased with the result, and thinks he can do some damage on Sunday.

"It's been a good Friday," he told GPFans.

"We've had rough Fridays, but for a change, it seems like a good Friday.

"We try to kill their [Mercedes'] magic, obviously that's what we have tried over the last years and I think here and there we have succeeded quite well.

"It's true that they are very strong around here and we expect them to be very strong tomorrow, but I hope we can be there and I hope we can be close - That would be very good news.

"Historically it has not been a very strong track for us.

"But today has been a good start, and hopefully we can improve tomorrow and kill their magic."

Ferrari certainly haven't been at their best at Ferrari. In the last twelve years, the prancing horse has only won twice (in 2007 and in 2011). Whether Vettel can break that drought on Sunday, remains to be seen.
