Verstappen on turning point in 2022: "I would never have imagined that"

After his fifteenth win of the Formula 1 season, Max Verstappen looks back on an extremely successful year with Red Bull Racing. He hopes his team can continue this trend next year.

"It has been a great team effort, especially after our tough start to the year, to turn it around like that," Verstappen said at the press conference after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. "I would have never imagined that, like nobody in the team."

The Dutchman stressed how much he enjoys being part of the team. "We have a lot of fun. Of course, we focus on the performance but you also need to really enjoy the moment, appreciate the moment. And I think we definitely did that," he continues.

At the same time, the focus is entirely on 2023. Verstappen says he is always looking to improve, but it will be a tall order to top this year. "I know it's hard to do a lot better than this but you should always try to aim for that," he adds.

Holiday plans Verstappen

Like his colleagues, the two-time world champion can go and enjoy a well-deserved holiday. He, therefore, plans to do so in abundance and, above all, doesn't plan on doing too much in his free time. "Relax a bit, have holidays, spend time with family and friends," according to Verstappen's holiday plans.
