Christian Horner explains again what went wrong in Brazil around the team order for Max Verstappen to let Sergio Perez pass before the flag was waved. The Red Bull Racing team boss admits there was no playbook for this situation.

Horner's explanation simply boils down to the fact that the team never expected to be on P6 and on P7 in the first place. Red Bull may have taken a stab at that, as Helmut Marko says the team did know that it had a 'bad' start to the weekend.

Horner names Red Bull's mistakes in Brazil

At the FIA press conference in Abu Dhabi, Horner says to GPBlog.com, among others: "The problem was that we did not expect to be in a situation of P6 and P7. We didn't think about that and so we didn't have that conversation. That is a mistake by us as a team. We didn't have a clear plan for it. It's silly that this happened."

To avoid this in the future, the situation has been gone through and discussed within the team. Horner: "Both drivers were very clear, open and honest with each other and from that, as a team we move on. The dynamic of the team is absolutely fine. The goal is clear what we want to achieve as a team. Something we have never done previously is to achieve a one-two in the drivers championship. We made mistakes in Brazil, but we learned from that. Max's season is been on another planet, so we won't let the events of one race weekend dictate the end of the year for us."
