Christian Horner worried 2021 regulations are being "watered down"

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has shown his concerns about the 2021 regulations. He is worried that they are being "watered down" due to a lack of alignment between the FIA and commercial rights holder.

F1 will introduce a complete overhaul of the sports regulations in 2021 in the hope to encourage better racing, a level playing field and attract new fans. The first sighting of these plans came at the Bahrain Grand Prix, but very little has developed since.

"I think the problem, and the risks that I see is if the FIA and the promoter aren't fully aligned, we end up with compromises and vanilla-type regulations," Horner said in an interview on crash net.

"Everything seems to be getting watered down somewhat from the initial concept is. So, I think the next 500 days are going to be very telling for life, post-2020."

Huge changes included a $150 million budget cap for all teams to abide by. And the FIA are going to have to play close attention to the engines and the chassis regulations. Toto Wolff also expressed his concerns about the changes, but he's more concerned about the lack of transparency.

"I think transparency and a clear path is important. We need to know what's happening in 2021, what the regs look like on the power side and on the chassis side in order to get things moving and avoid a cost escalation," Wolff added.
