F1 expert Peter Windsor is short of words to express how little he understands about Ferrari's choices. According to Windsor, Ferrari could have been in pole position with Charles Leclerc, but the blundering at the team is not over yet.

The F1 expert calls Ferrari's qualifying yet another strategic disaster for Leclerc. Just when he thought the Italian team had its strategy in order, Leclerc was the only driver sent out on the Intermediates at the start of Q3. Windsor is still dumbfounded by Ferrari's choice. In a YouTube video comment, the Brit tries to express his disbelief in words.

'Ferrari didn't even take a gamble with this'

"When you see how angry he [Leclerc] was, you have to assume that most of the decisions were again made by Ferrari's strategy team. You would think at this point anyway that Charles is fully involved in all decisions like this." The first point Windsor cannot understand is that Leclerc apparently had no say in the choice of tyres. Windsor continued: "When you also consider that Leclerc is a driver who can actually get more out of slicks in these semi-wet conditions than a driver like, let's say Carlos Sainz, let alone any other driver, why not put him on slicks?"

According to Windsor, there had been absolutely no downside to slick tyres. All the other teams had realised this, but Ferrari made a pointless gamble with Leclerc. Although, according to the F1 expert, choosing the Intermediate tyre was not even a gamble: "It was incomprehensible. On this day, Ferrari could have been on pole with Charles Leclerc. I really think so, but this is unbelievable. It wasn't even a gamble. It would have been a gamble if everyone was on Intermediates and he was the only driver on slicks." According to Windsor it is shocking that with a driver like Leclerc, Ferrari made such a risky decision in the very attempt to accomplish a safe, conservative strategy.
