Dr Helmut Marko has denied speculation he'd step down if Max Verstappen was ever crowned world champion.

Marko labelled the rumours as "nonsense" when asked by Austrian newspaper Kurier.

The Red Bull Racing consultant also reveals that he could live without the sport admist rumours of his retirement from the sport.

"I can live well with the F1," Marko revealed.

"I am not completely dependent on it in my life."

The Austrian also says that his Red Bull team will carry on racing in F1 at least until 2020.

The agreement with Honda for the next couple of years confirms the Marko comment.

"Now that Liberty Media has taken over the baton from Bernie Ecclestone as the new owner, we will see what changes in engine regulations and whether Red Bull will remain active in this class," Dr Marko said.

"Until then, we want to win in any case."
