Daniel Ricciardo can be admired in McLaren's car for four more Grands Prix, after which he will bid farewell to the team. Zak Brown regrets that the partnership was never a success and, speaking to Fox Sports that he greatly appreciates the driver.

With the arrival of Ricciardo, McLaren wanted to add extra experience to the team. However, Lando Norris managed to outperform his new teammate over the past two seasons, so the British formation decided to say goodbye to Ricciardo. That was hard on Brown, he frankly admits.

"We’ve all tried extremely hard," the McLaren CEO began. "We love Daniel, he’s great to work with and continues to be great to work with. But we’re in the results business and the results weren’t coming and we felt we tried everything. We don’t really know why it didn’t click, it’s kind of nobody’s fault. We gave it our best. He gave it his best."

Ricciardo temporarily quits F1

Ricciardo revealed just last weekend that he will not be seen in Formula 1 next season. However, the former teammate of Max Verstappen hopes to return to the motorsport class in 2024, although it remains to be seen which teams are available.
