Four more races and Sebastian Vettel's F1 career is over. With his four world titles, he has forever secured an important place in motorsport history.

As his retirement approaches, the time of farewell interviews has arrived. Even at his current - and last team - Aston Martin, the German chimed in to give his thoughts on all sorts of issues. How he wants to be remembered was one of the issues that came up. To the outside world, Vettel is probably one of the greatest drivers ever, although he himself clearly sees it differently.

King Charles

Vettel does not assume he will be famous forever. On His team's website, he says: "I once heard someone say, 'You will only be remembered until the last person who remembers you dies.' Let me put it this way: the UK has a new king, but he's not the first King Charles – there were two more before him. Do you remember them? Probably not. There's a limit. There will probably come a point when no one will remember me. Nothing lasts forever."

For Vettel, it doesn't have to be: to be remembered for eternity. He says that it is up to people themselves whether they ever think of him again. But he is by no means offended if no one does. Totally unimportant, Vettel indicates. But: "I always try to succeed – sometimes I don't succeed – but, above all else, I always try to treat people with respect and be nice. If that's what people remember about me then that will make me happy."
