Ricciardo hoping Paul Ricard experience plays in his favour

Daniel Ricciardo is heading into next weekend’s French Grand Prix looking for his third race win of the season. The Australian has won in China and Monaco so far this year and will be banking on his past racing experience at Paul Ricard to help him bring home a third win.

F1 returns to France for the first time since 2008 this year, and whilst some older drivers have raced F1 in France, they have not raced at Paul Ricard.

Magny-Cours was used as France’s F1 track, with Paul Ricard not used since 1990.

This could make the race weekend interesting as drivers get used to the new track, and Ricciardo may have an advantage due to his Paul Ricard experience.

“I have raced at Paul Ricard,” he said. “But I don’t know what configuration we will be using compared to back then.

“It’s cool having a French Grand Prix back on the calendar.

“Fingers crossed it provides a good race not only for the French fans but for the rest of the world.”
