Italian media on Monday reacted with disappointment to Ferrari's performance. The formation hoped to take victory in Singapore, but had to leave it to Sergio Perez. In addition, Max Verstappen's result came up extensively.

Verstappen did not achieve the result he was hoping for beforehand. Partly because of a qualifying session in which Red Bull Racing made a mistake, he had to settle for a seventh finishing spot. It was the perfect opportunity for Ferrari to take the win, but it was too high for the team.

"It was another bitter pill for Charles Leclerc and Ferrari," let La Gazzetta dello Sport know. "Sergio Perez won in Singapore, although the Mexican's success was not certain until well after the podium ceremony, as Checo was investigated for not keeping his distance behind the Safety Car."

Corriere della Sera then again was critical of the winner of the Singapore GP: "Perez gets a 9 and not a 10 because he broke the rules twice. Verstappen got a 5, as did his team, because he messed up too much. We also saw a bad Hamilton and a great Alonso (7.5) who was held back by Alpine," pointing to his engine problems.

Clear criticism of race management

Other elements also stood out in the race weekend. For example, the race committee once again took a long time before making a decision on a possible penalty for Perez. Sky Sports Italia Finds that the management needs to think about that.

"The desire to map out all the elements was clever, but the period for the men led by Mohammed Ben Sulayem is certainly not one of the easiest," the medium states. "They are also waiting for Wednesday, when the teams' final financial report for the 2021 season, which has already caused so much discussion in recent days, will be published."
