Hulkenberg: "I started on pole and won the race"

Nico Hulkenberg sees his P7-finish as sort of a win, as the German was the 'best of the rest' on both Saturday and Sunday behind the six cars of the Big Three teams.

Hulkenberg is becoming a bit of a P7-merchant, as his average finishing position this season is in seventh and he's sharing the seventh place in the current standings with Fernando Alonso.

Being 'best of the rest', as it's called, is something that deserves recognition, according to Hulkenberg.

"I started from pole and won the race too, really," the German smiled.

"But then in my own class, so behind the top teams.

"You don't really have to count the first six places, they're driving a totally different race.

"They don't have to break a sweat to beat us."

Hulkenberg might have packaged it as a joke, but there's a sad truth in that. Maybe a bit of bitterness as well, as of course, Hulkenberg has the longest streak ever of F1-starts without a podium. Someday, Nico, someday...
