Charles Leclerc was fastest in the third free practice session in Singapore. Max Verstappen set a second time. Third free practice was mostly a matter of waiting. Waiting for the session to start. The session started at 12:00hrs Dutch time, but the light at the end of pit lane stayed on red. Bernd Mayländer drove laps with the safety car to see how the track looked and whether it was suitable for the Formula 1 cars and at 12:30hrs Dutch time the light at the end of the pitlane turned green.

Pierre Gasly was the first to enter the track on full wets. Other drivers soon followed. The track dried up quickly, so Max Verstappen decided to come out immediately on intermediates. It was mainly a case of Gasly and Verstappen taking turns to improve the fastest time. The intermediate tyre was immediately faster, causing drivers to switch from full wets to intermediates.

The first brief yellow flag was caused by Nicholas Latifi who briefly lost his car at turn 13. Teammate Alexander Albon also briefly lost his Williams, but despite the wet track, there were few incidents. Further into the session, it was the Red Bulls and Ferraris challenging each other for the top spots in the standings. The Alpines and Aston Martins were able to follow relatively well.

Mick Schumacher is under investigation for an unsafe release. His team sent him off while one of his intermediate tyres was not properly fixed. Due to the use of the full wets and intermediates, comparing times with Friday was not possible.

Gasly caused another yellow flag after the flag, but was able to make his own way back towards the pit lane.
