Mick Schumacher must fear for his place in F1. According to German Bild Schumacher has no chance of getting the seat at AlphaTauri and his chances at Haas are also uncertain.

Haas looks at other options

Schumacher is in his second season in F1. While his first season alongside Nikita Mazepin went fine, he has come under greater pressure in year two. Indeed, alongside Kevin Magnussen, it was noticed that Schumacher still lacks some speed. Internally, there are therefore doubts at Haas whether Schumacher will be allowed to keep his seat.

Guenther Steiner has already revealed that the situation is being evaluated and that other drivers are also an option for the team. Auto, Motor und Sport previously reported that Nico Hulkenberg is the favourite for the seat at Haas in 2023, but the names of Daniel Ricciardo and Antonio Giovinazzi have also been mentioned.

So stiff competition for Schumacher, who otherwise does not really seem to have any chances. AlphaTauri still has a seat available if Pierre Gasly leaves for Alpine, but Nyck de Vries seems the top favourite for that spot. He already spoke to Helmut Marko, where Schumacher would not be in the picture at Red Bull, according to Bild.

Chances for Schumacher

Schumacher is still being linked to Alpine, but only if Gasly is not feasible. Esteban Ocon would love to see his friend come to Alpine, but the question is whether Schumacher has shown enough to make that step up. With Jack Doohan and once again De Vries, Schumacher also has stiff competition for the seat at Alpine.

Alfa Romeo also has a seat vacant, but nothing currently seems to indicate that the team will part ways with Guanyu Zhou. His Chinese sponsors are very welcome to the team and Zhou's performance is solid for the first season in F1. Schumacher would be on the team's radar though, especially if Audi takes over from 2024.

A last chance would be at Williams, but Schumacher's name is not often mentioned there either. De Vries is considered a candidate there and Williams junior Logan Sargeant is also in the picture for an F1 debut. Schumacher, therefore, has the best chance of staying in F1 by convincing Haas' management that he is good enough. Otherwise, chances are he will have to watch from the sidelines for at least one year.
